Recyclability creates work opportunities for adults with learning disabilities, enabling their valuable contribution to North East Lincolnshire's sustainable development. We are a community-owned non-profit distributing company. Our projects include dismantling redundant computers for scrap and material recovery; recycling waste wood from a garden centre and nursery to create saleable craft items; and a textile recycling service in North East Lincolnshire for clothing materials. Some materials are retained to develop craft making skills, others are collected for a charge, when all money going into Recyclability for future development. Recyclability has brought together paid work and training opportunities for people with learning disabilities and provides environmental, economic and social benefits to each and every project that we develop. The government's 'Valuing People' White Paper set out the commitment to improve the life chances of people with a learning disability. It also voices the need for major reform and modernisation and there is an objective which specifically states that people with a learning disability should be able to participate in all forms of work and that the Public Sector should set an example, in partnership with others, in providing these opportunities. People with a learning disability, despite voicing the same hopes and aspirations, are so often denied this opportunity. That is where Recyclability comes in and makes a positive difference.
